Five teams are fighting for four remaining places among the top six in the Yo Health Malta premier.
Hibernians, sixth in the table on 14 points and eight adrift of leaders Valletta take on Sliema Wanderers at the Centerary Stadium this evening at 6.15pm. Sliema sit a point and a place above Hibs meaning both teams are desperate for a win to boost their chances of finishing the Opening Round in the top six.
Floriana are sitting comfortably in second place on 22 points and assured of a top six finish as they take on Hamrun Spartans at the Tony Bezzina Stadium in tonight’s other early kick-off. It is still a nervy position for Hamrun, 16 points in fourth and within striking distance of the chasing pack.
It is a nervy night for Marsaxlokk as well, they lie in seventh on 14 points, just behind Hibernians on goal difference. A win against Zabbar St Patrick who look destined for a bottom six finish would put Marsaxlokk truly in the mix to finish the first round in the top group. That game at the Tony Bezzina Stadium at 9pm.
Tonight’s other late game at the Centenary Stadium sees Mosta take on Naxxar Lions with both sides destined to finish in the bottom six.
