The day after the Government presented its Budget for the year 2026, Minister for Finance Clyde Caruana visited De La Rue where, in addition to meeting with workers and management, he saw the investment that this company is currently making.
The Minister noted how the investment that this company is making to increase its production reflects what the country is going through with the creation of more wealth. He said that Malta’s economy is continuing to grow, is creating more wealth and with that wealth the Government is continuing to help families and businesses Budget after Budget.
Regarding the tax cut, Minister Caruana recalled that in last year’s Budget, the Government helped all workers with a measure that left €140 million in their pockets. He said that this year the Government felt the need to make this effort with families, especially those with children because it recognizes the sacrifices they make in raising their children.
The Minister said that the Government wanted to address this challenge in a very strong way through a measure that will leave another €160 million with parents. The Minister explained how this tax cut for families over three years is just the beginning of a series of measures that will ensure that families have more money left over from their income. He said that this measure continues to reward the diligence of Maltese and Gozitan workers and these types of measures are leading the country to where it is today.
“The country has continued to grow stronger and therefore this country will continue to take care of its children as well,” concluded Minister Caruana.
