A Budget to prepare the country for the future: Alex Agius Saliba

Alex Agius Saliba at Labour Party Conference

A budget that will continue to prepare the country for the challenges of the present and the future, with a stronger social soul than its predecessor, the message from the Deputy Leader for Affairs of the Labour Party, Alex Agius Saliba, during the first session of the Party’s Annual General Conference.

He recalled how the Labour Party, since its inception, has given light to the people, when it gave birth to social benefits, free healthcare and gave rights to women, in order to lead to economic and social freedom. He said that through the implementation in different budgets, the Government has distributed and continues to distribute equitably, in order to give a better life to pensioners and families, parents and students, and workers while at the same time strengthening the medicine formulary, investment in health, and persons with disability. All this as the Party in Government continues to implement what it was born for as a Party, to provide social mobility.

Alex Agius Saliba was critical of the Opposition Nationalist Party, which he said speaks against Malta abroad, creating doubt in patients who make use of generic medicines and which creates uncertainty in Maltese hunters and trappers, and removes energy subsidies.

The Labour Party he said continues to defend Malta. He concluded by saying that when the Labour Party wins, Malta and Gozo,  the Maltese and Gozitans win.
