The Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri announced that between the 18th and 19th of October the 8th edition of the International Kite and Wind Festival will be held in the San Dimitri area, Għarb, Gozo.
Every year this festival attracts thousands of Gozitans, Maltese as well as foreigners and international professional kite flyers. Minister Clint Camilleri stated that, “The International Kite and Wind Festival will not only continue to bring Gozo to life during this beautiful time of year, but also demonstrates our commitment to continue strengthening sustainable tourism and the cultural identity of Gozo especially during the shoulder months which are traditionally quieter.”
He went on to explain how for two whole days, in one of the most beautiful open spaces in the Maltese islands, the Gozo sky will light up with colours and shapes as thousands of birds of all sizes and designs dominate the sky. The experience of this festival does not stop there. There will also be spectacular windsurfing and kite surfing demonstrations. There will also be workshops where participants can design and create their own kite. This will be an ideal experience for both children and all families. The festival will also offer cultural performances, delicious food from around the world, and works of local artisans all in an atmosphere of joy, colour, and community. This is an event that combines culture, art, nature and entertainment, in an unforgettable experience for everyone who attends.
Mayor of Għarb, David Apap, invited everyone to join him in Għarb for this festival that has become so popular and during which there will be around 42 foreigners to give a kite show. The Minister for Gozo and Planning, Clint Camilleri, concluded by encouraging everyone to attend this unique event which will also serve as a day of rest and entertainment for all families.
