Prime Minister Robert Abela says that the Auberge de Castille has obtained an environmental certificate

At the highest forum of public administration, in a meeting with the Permanent Secretaries at the Auberge de Castille, Prime Minister Robert Abela stressed that we are moving towards another strong Budget that will guarantee families and it is then the public administration that must be the driving force in the implementation of measures for the good of the Maltese and Gozitan people.

In his address in the presence of Principal Permanent Secretary Tony Sultana, Cabinet Secretary Ryan Spagnol and the Permanent Secretaries within the Ministries among others, Prime Minister Robert Abela also announced that the Castille building has just obtained an ISO 14001:2015 certificate, which is an environmental certificate verified by an independent entity. “The Auberge of Castile, in a historic building, we are setting an example as a Government to reduce the impact on the climate in an environmentally responsible manner”, said Dr Abela, noting how the work to make the Auberge of Castile environmentally sustainable originated from a group of children from an Eco-School who visited Castile during the pandemic and stressed the need for the building’s operation to be more efficient in terms of energy use.

The Prime Minister recalled a reform passed by the Government to support workers and officials in the public administration, those who perform their duties every day with a sense of duty and loyalty to our country. Where now public officials will no longer be able to be personally sought for decisions that have been taken in good faith. He explained that this is also why we want the public administration to continue to work with strength, serenity and effectiveness. Prime Minister Abela stated that our country has economic results and continues to attract quality investment. He said that all this continues to fill us with courage for the Government to carry out the work program for the good of families.

The Head of the Public Service Tony Sultana also spoke at this forum. He said that the public administration not only implements what is announced in the Budget but also gives an account of this implementation. He revealed that in the coming days we will be announcing a strong rate of implementation of the 2025 Budget. The Public Service is not only strengthening its structures in the present but also thinking about the future. “This year, the Public Service gave an opportunity to around 2,500 young students to work with us and gain experience”, said Tony Sultana. He maintained that there is great trust between the Government and the public administration, so much so that we have always received support and protection, including from the legislative act and the investments in the service both in terms of human resources and technology have always continued. “We must look forward with more confidence to continue with the work and continuous reforms”, concluded the Head of the Public Service.
