US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas have agreed on the first phase of a peace plan which includes a ceasefire in Gaza, withdrawal of some Israeli troops from the territory, and release of hostages held by Hamas in exchange for Palestinians prisoners.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called it a “great day for Israel”
Hamas said it “valued the efforts” of Trump.
Reuters is reporting that the signing of Gaza peace deal is expected at 11am Central Europe time.
The release of the hostages and prisoner exchange could take place as early as Saturday, news agency Reuters is now reporting.
