During a visit to one of the Day Centres for the elderly, the Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri launched this year’s programme of activities for October, the month dedicated to the elderly.
Minister Clint Camilleri stated that, “October is a special time where we recognize not only the years gone by, but also the wisdom, values and sacrifices with which our elders have built our families and communities. They are the foundations of our society and we have a duty to show our respect and gratitude towards them. Through these activities we want to show sincere appreciation and create spaces where all generations can meet, learn from each other and celebrate together.”
For the month of October 2025, the Ministry for Gozo and Planning will be organising a series of events and activities to celebrate the elderly in Gozo. The programme will include:
- Intergenerational activities involving children and young people together with the elderly.
- Social mornings with informative talks aimed at the elderly.
- A special mass at the Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary which will bring together elderly residents from every village in Gozo.
- Open Days at the Ministry’s residential homes and day and night shelters.
- A special event at Villa Rundle, where seniors and their families will have the opportunity to learn more about the wide range of services offered by the Ministry for their needs.
Minister Clint Camilleri concluded by encouraging everyone to attend and participate in these celebrations that honour our elders.
