During a visit, the Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects, Silvio Schembri, met with employees and the leadership team of the international company Paytently. Established in 2023, Paytently is headquartered in Malta and operates additional offices in Belgium, London, and Portugal. With over 35 employees, most of them based in Malta, the company supports more than 120 businesses worldwide and is connected to over 60 banks across the globe.
Minister Silvio Schembri underlined that Paytently represents a strong vote of confidence in Malta’s economy. “The operations of companies such as Paytently confirm that Malta is on the right path. Our country was the first in the world to introduce a clear legal framework through the Virtual Financial Assets and Cryptocurrency Act in 2018, providing companies with certainty and trust to operate in a regulated environment. This means more opportunities for businesses and greater variety and choice for consumers.”
During the visit, Co-Founder and CEO Samuel Barrett said: “Paytently was created to make payments smarter and more reliable for businesses operating in complex, regulated environments. Our focus has always been on delivering both innovation and trust. As we continue to grow, we are excited about the next chapter in our journey to strengthen our position as a key player in Malta’s fintech landscape and beyond.”
Looking ahead, Paytently will continue to expand from its base in Malta, pursuing strategic growth across European markets, investing in infrastructure locally, and developing secure, business-focused solutions that enable companies to succeed in global industries.
