The Sports and Aquatics Pavilion will host an event for everyone to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Spirit Combat in Malta with legendary Martial Arts icons

Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri announced that a few days after the official inauguration of the Sports and Aquatics Pavilion, the 40th anniversary of the start of Spirit Combat in the Maltese Islands will be celebrated, with international guests who will lead various demonstrations and learning sessions throughout the weekend.

This Gozo Sports Centre has been chosen to host this seminar which will be spread over two days between Friday 17th October and Saturday 18th October 2025 and will be open to the entire public from children to the elderly.

Minister Camilleri stated that, “It is gratifying that as soon as the Sports and Aquatic Pavilion was opened, interest immediately began to be shown in hosting sporting events with international guests. Not only have we already started attracting international athletes, but as we promised, this state-of-the-art complex is being enjoyed by the entire population.” He went on to explain how the event will attract both martial arts enthusiasts and people of all ages who wish to go and introduce themselves to these disciplines.

The international guests will be ​Silvio Simac, Actor and World Champion, Bill Cox, Chief Representative of Spirit Combat International and Garry Wilson, Chief Representative for Scotland.

​Event organizers Kancho Adrian Axisa, Representative for Malta, and Mario Saliba, Representative for Gozo thanked the Ministry for Gozo and Planning for their assistance in making this seminar possible in Gozo.

Minister Clint Camilleri concluded by inviting everyone, both those enthusiastic about martial arts and anyone who wishes to learn more and try these disciplines, to visit the Sports and Aquatics Pavilion between the 17th and 18th of October.
