G4S and GWU strengthen collaboration with new Collective Agreement at Malta International Airport

G4S Malta, a KDM Group Company, and the Disciplined Forces, Security and Law
Enforcement Section of the General Workers’ Union (GWU) signed a new three-year
Collective Agreement covering all G4S Malta Aviation Security Officer grades operating at
Malta International Airport (MIA).

The agreement, which will run from 2025 to 2027, provides for substantial salary increases
and improved allowances for more than one hundred and thirty G4S Malta Aviation
Security Officers who are entrusted with ensuring the safety and security of passengers,
airline personnel and airport stakeholders at Malta’s principal airport. It also strengthens
collaboration between the company and the union, while introducing clearer frameworks
for career progression, training and certification, in line with international aviation
standards.

The signing was formalised by Ing. Edward Chetcuti, Group CEO of the KDM Group, Elton
Debattista, General Manager, and John Muscat Drago, Chief People Officer, on behalf of
G4S, together with Theo Vella, Section Secretary, and Dorianne Compagno, Sylvana
Abdilla and Anton Micallef, on behalf of the GWU.

Speaking at the signing, Ing. Chetcuti underlined the importance of this milestone, noting
that the agreement is a significant step forward in acknowledging the professionalism and
commitment of the G4S Malta Aviation Security Officers working at the Malta International
Airport, who he described as the first line of defence in safeguarding the travelling public.
Mr Vella, representing the General Workers’ Union, said that the agreement, which was
approved by an absolute majority of members, ensures fairer remuneration and improved
conditions for officers who carry out a demanding and highly responsible role at the airport.

The new Collective Agreement reaffirms the joint commitment of G4S Malta and the GWU
to foster a positive working environment, enhance employee welfare, and maintain the
highest levels of security for all passengers passing through Malta International Airport.
