Floriana got their campaign off to a winning start with a 3-1 victory over Naxxar Lions.
Two early goals put Floriana in charge of this match and although Naxxar did pull a goal back early in the second half, Iago Mendonca late header sealed the win for Floriana.
Hamrun Spartans who have been busy pre-season with European commitments, has to settle for a point against Tarxien Rainbows. Tarxien scored with just four minutes on the clock and Hamrun had to wait until very late in the game to grab an equaliser. Tarxien almost nicked the winner in stoppage time when Claudio Murici’s well-taken free kick hit the crossbar.
