Fielding many of their new signings, Liverpool twice led but were pegged back by Palace.
A penalty shootout decided the outcome with Mo Salah missing the first spot-kick for the Anfield side. That handed advantage to Palace who held their nerve to win the shoot-out and claim their first Community Shield.
