A 42-year-old Nepalese man tragically lost his life following a collision between a motorbike and a car in Birkirkara early this morning. The incident took place at around 5.20am on Salvu Psaila Street.
According to initial investigations, the car involved in the accident also collided with three parked vehicles before the driver and two passengers fled the scene. Emergency services arrived shortly after the crash, with a medical team attempting to assist the motorbike rider. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
One of the passengers, an 18-year-old woman from Mosta, was located a short time later in the vicinity and was arrested. She was subsequently transported to Mater Dei Hospital due to injuries, with her condition currently unknown.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident, and a search is underway for the car’s driver and the remaining passenger. Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia has been notified and has appointed several experts to assist in the inquiry.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as investigations remain ongoing.
