KM Malta flights disrupted by pilots industrial action

Passengers on KM Malta flights today can expect delays after the pilots’ union called for industrial action.

The action by pilots follows a breakdown in communication between the company and the union over what it says are issues relating to its members’ safety and well-being.

Among the measures being taken are not allowing passengers to board aircraft until refueling is completed and include taxing for take-off using both engines. Moves the airline is calling “disproportionate”. Normally pilots use only one engine while taxing for take-off and after landing as a means of saving fuel.
