Infrastructure Malta lays third section of Msida Creek flyover as project progresses steadily

Msida Creek project
Infrastructure Malta today successfully installed the third of six steel sections forming the main flyover structure of the Msida Creek Project.
Weighing 46 tons and measuring 26 meters in length by 7.5 meters in width, this major component marks another milestone in one of Malta’s most significant infrastructural upgrades. Sections four and five of the flyover are currently under fabrication at the EL engineering plant in Far, with ongoing precision works to meet the project’s demanding specifications.
In tandem with the steel structure installation, progress continues on the overlying concrete deck. The first span has now been fitted with bespoke predalle sections— precast concrete slabs forming the base for the bridge deck. Due to the flyover’s complex curved alignment, each predalle is uniquely crafted.
The process includes meticulous on-site measurements followed by customized formwork production carried out off-site. These components are currently being produced at the Polidano manufacturing facility in Farruġ.
The Msida Creek Project is set to significantly improve traffic flow and safety in one of Malta’s busiest junctions, enhancing connectivity for thousands of commuters daily. Infrastructure Malta remains committed to delivering this transformation project with precision and efficiency.!
