Malta has been showcased in an episode of World Theme Travel, one of South Korea’s most popular and long-running travel documentary series, produced by EBS – the country’s public educational broadcaster.
Airing since 2008, World Theme Travel goes beyond typical travel shows by exploring destinations through the lens of free-spirited, backpack-style travel. The program highlights authentic experiences, from world-renowned sites to lesser-known spots and everyday local life, offering South Korean audiences a rich and immersive view of different cultures.
The Malta episode, filmed on location in April, focused on Valletta, Gozo, and various other parts of the islands. Through its engaging storytelling, the program brought Malta’s history, traditions, natural landscapes, and contemporary lifestyle into Korean homes, sparking curiosity and appreciation for the islands’ unique identity.
Narrated from the perspective of a Korean traveller, the show aimed to inspire reflection on cultural diversity and global awareness. The Malta Tourism Authority welcomes this kind of international exposure, which helps build awareness of Malta as a quality destination among long-haul markets such as South Korea.
This feature marks a meaningful step in further introducing Malta to East Asian audiences, encouraging cultural exchange and potential tourism interest from Korea.
