Earlier on Friday morning, an Armed Forces of Malta AW139 helicopter carried out a medical evacuation off a livestock vessel, approximately 20 nautical miles East of Malta.
Rescue Coordination Centre received a call through the Malta Vessel Traffic Services requesting an urgent medical evacuation of a crew member.
The AFM helicopter successfully carried out the medical evacuation, safely airlifting the crew member and passing him over to the awaiting Emergency Medical personnel to transport the crew member to Mater Dei hospital.
