The popular ‘Lejl Imkebbes’ event and the ‘Gozo 2050: A Journey Through Time’ initiative are announced to be held at the Citadel

The Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri has announced that for another year, the Citadel will once again come to life with the much-anticipated annual festival, Lejl Imkebbes , on Saturday, 14th June, 2025, from 7pm onwards. The Citadel, with its distinctive character, offers the perfect backdrop for this magical evening, where light and life merge with the island’s rich heritage.

This year’s Lejl Imkebbes will also serve as a platform for the launch of an initiative related to Malta Vision 2050Gozo 2050: A Journey Through Time . This is a three-room interactive experience that will explore Gozo’s present and showcase a vision of the island’s imagined future.

Minister Clint Camilleri stated that Shrouded Night is an eagerly awaited annual event in the Gozo cultural calendar because it is a wonderful event that celebrates the Gozitan history, culture, and community in a unique and spectacular way and attracts thousands of people to the Citadel.

Also present was Artistic Director Quinton Scerri, who said that this year’s Lejl Imkebbes will be decorated with more than 20,000 candles with a number of large designs and light artifacts that will continue to create a unique and magical atmosphere for all those who will attend.

The Wrapped Night program is designed to offer an unforgettable experience for the whole family, and includes live entertainment, historical reenactments, free access to museums, food stalls, and photo opportunities.

Minister Camilleri also spoke about the launch of Gozo 2050: A Journey Through Time which will take place during Lejl Imkebbes and explained that “the main aim of this initiative is to involve the Gozitan community in creating the future of the island. The Ministry for Gozo and Planning is committed to listening to the ideas, wishes, and aspirations of Gozitans for the Gozo of the future. Through this experience, everyone is being invited to be part of the conversation on how we can ensure that Gozo remains an attractive place to live, work and visit, even in the years to come.”

The public is invited to visit the Citadel on the 14th of June for this magical evening of cultural celebration and vision for the future of Gozo.
