Manuela Tesse, the National Women’s National Team Coach, has named a squad of 25 players for the final two UEFA Women’s Nations League matches, at home to Cyprus this Friday and away to Andorra (3rd June).
Malta is once again on the brink of achieving promotion to League B of the UEFA Women’s Nations League. With two matches to go, the WNT top Group C2 with nine points from four games, ahead of Cyprus (seven points), Andorra (four), and Georgia (four).
Malta face Cyprus this Friday knowing that a win would send them five points clear of their opponents and seal a second consecutive promotion in the UEFA Women’s Nations League.
The morale of the Malta players is high after back-to-back wins over Georgia in April significantly boosted their prospects of winning the group.
Friday’s home match also marks a return for the Malta Women’s National Team to the National Stadium, their first appearance there in many years.
Tesse’s squad selection sees the return of experienced Birkirkara defender Stephania Farrugia, who had been sidelined due to an ACL injury sustained last September.
Friday’s match at the National Stadium kicks off at 19:00. Four days later, on Tuesday, June 3, Malta will take on the much-improved Andorra at the Camp de Futbol Municipal d’Encamp, with kick-off scheduled for 19:00.
Both matches will be broadcast live — Friday’s game on TVM Sport+ and Tuesday’s away fixture on TVMNews+.
