Prime Minister Robert Abela meets with Chamber of Commerce

In a meeting with the new board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce, Prime Minister Robert Abela said that the cordial meetings and joint work that took place in previous years will continue with the new team of the Chamber because it benefits the Maltese people and the collaboration continues to translate into economic prosperity.

At the meeting in Castille, the Prime Minister spoke about the good economic outlook of the Maltese economy and the very strong sentiment among the Maltese business community. He mentioned that the upcoming Budget will be another generous Budget that also goes hand in hand with the key principles of the Malta 2050 Vision, namely sustainable economic growth, citizen-focused services, resilience and modern education and intelligent use of land and sea.

The new President of the Chamber of Commerce, William Spiteri Bailey, also spoke about the Malta 2050 Vision, saying that good preparatory work had been done with the Government on this vision for the next 25 years. Similar preparation had also been done on other reforms such as the Malta Labour Migration Policy and even the introduction of miscarriage leave.

Both sides also dealt with a number of other topics including tax harmonisation and various other elements that attract companies to our country.

Also present for this meeting were, among others, Ministers Byron Camilleri, Miriam Dalli and Clyde Caruana, Principal Permanent Secretary Tony Sultana as well as the Head of the Secretariat of the Office of the Prime Minister, Colonel Mark Mallia.
