The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Anton Refalo announced that a number of subsidies are currently being distributed to Maltese and Gozitan farmers and ranchers for the year 2024. So far, over €12 million has already been paid in different payments. Further payments will continue to be issued until next June, and therefore the overall amount of payments to farmers and ranchers for 2024 will reach a total of almost €17 million.
During the press conference, it was also announced that a number of applications have been opened for Maltese and Gozitan farmers and ranchers where they can make requests for payments due to them, from land-related schemes, or animal-related schemes in the case of ranchers, which fall under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Strategic Plan for Malta 2023-2027.
“The open schemes are co-financed by European and national funds, and those eligible are currently receiving their relevant application by post at home. Therefore, I would like to remind those who receive their application to submit the signed application as soon as possible, so that everyone can receive the full payment due to him or her,” concluded Minister Refalo.
