Prime Minister Robert Abela, together with his wife Dr Lydia Abela and Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment Byron Camilleri, visited the Prison Bakery at the Corradino Correctional Facility.
The Prime Minister who was accompanied by the Chief Executive of the Correctional Services Agency Christopher Siegersma, saw the work being done by prisoners and Agency officials to prepare products such as qaqaq tal-appostli and sweets that can be purchased by the public. The Prime Minister had words of praise for the work being done for this initiative which is remaining popular year after year in these times.
The Prison Bakery initiative, apart from offering traditional products to the public, helps in the rehabilitation of residents at the Corradino Correctional Facility where it gives them a sense of purpose and also helps them acquire new and valuable skills.
