Jurgen Pisani suspended pending investigations

The Malta Football Association announced that following the investigation by Police and after charges were issued against Jurgen Pisani in relation to the Premier League 2023/24 match Sta Lucia FC vs Birkirkara FC, played on 3 May 2024, the Malta FA requested that proceedings be initiated before the Control, Disciplinary and Ethics Committee – Integrity Board against Jurgen Pisani and the club St Lucia FC given that the player was registered with Sta Lucia FC at the time.

In view of the nature of the charges in question under Section IX of the Malta FA Regulations – Regulations on Bribery and Betting Regarding Football Matches, the Malta FA has suspended Jurgen Pisani temporarily pending the outcome of the final decision in the internal proceedings.

This position is being taken in terms of the Malta FA Regulations (Section IX) – Regulations for the Investigation of Allegations and for Adjudging upon charges related to Bribery in Football and Illicit Betting related to Football matches under the jurisdiction of the Association.

The Malta Football Association advises that no further comments will be made at this stage as the case is sub-judice.
