Floriana missed the chance to go top of the Top Six group with a 2-0 loss to Sliema Wanderers who overtook them to claim second place.
Vito Plut put Sliema in front mid-way through the first half and Mohamed Abdulahi Awad doubled their lead with just over an hour played.
That defeat knocked Floriana all the way down to fifth, three points adrift of leaders Marsaxlokk.
