Prime Minister publishes findings of inquiry into theft of drugs from AFM barracks in Safi

The Office of the Prime Minister is publishing the facts, considerations, conclusions and recommendations of the administrative inquiry appointed by the Prime Minister and led by retired Judge Geoffrey Valenzia into the facts and circumstances leading to the theft of cannabis resin stored at the Armed Forces of Malta Barracks in Safi, on the night of 22nd and 23rd February, 2025.
This together with the publication advice of Judge Valenzia. An inquiry that is independent of criminal investigations and or other legal proceedings such as the magisterial inquiry. As a result of the conclusions of the administrative inquiry, the suspension of Brigadier Clinton O’Neill is being lifted and he has been reinstated to all responsibilities associated with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Malta.
The internal disciplinary procedures by the Armed Forces of Malta against those who failed to comply, even as established by the administrative inquiry, will continue in accordance with the law of the Armed Forces of Malta. The Government will be evaluating the recommendations established in the administrative inquiry by Judge Valenzia in order to take the necessary actions.
