Mosta stunned Hamrun on Sunday to hand Spartans their third defeat in four games.
GIancarlo Goncalves put Mosta in front early in the first half and Mosta had the chance to double their lead just before the break but Clayton Failla’s penalty was saved by Bonello.
A Cesar Menacho header levelled for Hamrun with twenty minutes left but Mosta restored their lead when Stephen Gabriel Chiemezie was quickest to ball after Bonello could only block a Failla free kick.
That win lifts Mosta to sixth place, just a point behind Hamrun.
