Protests across Greece on second anniversary of fatal train crash

Protesters clash with police on second anniversary of fatal train crash

Violent protests have been held across Greece to mark the second anniversary of a train crash in which 57 people died.

Fifty-seven people were killed when a passenger train filled with university students collided with a freight train in Tempe in 2023.

Hundreds of thousands are thought to have taken to the streets across the country in support of a general strike which has seen flights grounded with train services and boat sailings disrupted.

Two years on from the fatal crash, no-one has been held responsible.
