Le GV awarded a MICHELIN star for the first time in the 2025 Malta MICHELIN Guide

The Malta Tourism Authority and the MICHELIN Guide are pleased to announce the results of the 2025 edition of the Malta MICHELIN Guide, celebrating the exceptional talent and
innovation that continue to shape Malta’s culinary landscape.

This year’s edition marks a new milestone, as Le GV in Sliema has been awarded a MICHELIN star for the first time. It joins De Mondion, Rosamì, Under Grain, Noni, and Fernando Gastrotheque, all of which have retained their one MICHELIN star. Meanwhile, ION Harbour has once again been recognised with two MICHELIN stars, following its historic achievement last year. These impressive results highlight the diversity and creativity that define Malta’s evolving gastronomy.

The 2025 Malta MICHELIN Guide also features five Bib Gourmand entries and 31 MICHELIN-recommended restaurants, including three new additions: La Pira, Risette, and The Seafood Grill Market. Their inclusion further enriches the selection of high-quality dining experiences available across Malta and Gozo.

Carlo Micallef, CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority, expressed his pride in the latest
achievements: “We are thrilled to see Malta’s culinary excellence celebrated on the global
stage once again. The recognition of Le GV for the first time alongside the other five MICHELIN one stars as well as the outstanding recognition of ION Harbour once more as a MICHELIN two star restaurant, underscores the incredible talent and innovation within our culinary community. These accolades reinforce Malta’s position as a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts and highlight the vital role of gastronomy in our tourism offering. By extending our partnership with MICHELIN for another five years, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting the growth and success of Malta’s culinary sector and the development of the luxury tourism niche.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg underscored the importance of these recognitions in Malta’s strategy towards excellence in hospitality and tourism, with higher quality, authentic experiences for visitors and locals alike. “This edition of the MICHELIN Guide once again proves that Malta is a destination where gastronomic excellence thrives. Our chefs continue to innovate, blending tradition with modernity to deliver world-class dining experiences. These awards are a testament to the dedication of our hospitality sector. The Government will continue supporting this vital industry,” Dr Borg said.

Following these outstanding results, the Malta Tourism Authority remains committed to
supporting the continued growth of the country’s culinary sector, further enhancing Malta’s
reputation as a quality gastronomic destination.
