The draw for the 2025-27 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying round took place on Thursday 6th February 2025 at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
Malta, placed in Pot 6, has been drawn into Group F, alongside Germany, Georgia, Greece, Northern Ireland, and Latvia. The group promises a number of exciting matches as the teams face off for a spot in the final tournament.
The nine group winners together with the runner-up with the best record against the top five in their group qualify directly for the final tournament. The remaining eight runners-up will feature in the play-offs so that the four remaining finalists can be determined.
The qualifying group stage matches will take place between March 2025 and October 2026. This will then be followed by a play-off round in November 2026.
The final tournament, set to be held in Albania and Serbia, will take place in the summer of 2027.
This qualifying campaign will also mark the start of Davide Mazzotta’s time as Malta Under-21 Coach, having been appointed last month. He has a good track record of developing young players particularly on the path to senior international football.
