Minister Byron Camilleri at reopening of Gzira Police station

Gżira Police Station has reopened its doors after extensive renovation work. The aim is to offer a service and strengthen security for the residents of Gżira and the surrounding area.

Minister Byron Camilleri reiterated that never before has the Police Force had a strong presence in the community and that this Government is continuing to strengthen it with projects such as these. “We have now also strengthened this presence in the Gżira locality in order to serve the residents of Gżira and the surrounding area, this is combined with a strong presence in the community which is also leading us to reduce crime in our country in recent years. We are also offering a better environment to members of the Police Force, not only strengthening their conditions and rights but also their environment in the workplace. We are committed to continuing to provide the best possible resources to the Police Force so that it can then be of service to our country.”

The works that were concluded in Gżira, which included extensive renovation not only in the building but also on the facade, join many other works that are underway on a number of police stations including in Msida, Ħamrun, Rabat and Mtarfa – which from a Community Police Office will be transformed into the second Domestic Violence Hub in the country, among others.
