Identity Workers with better salaries, conditions and opportunities

A new collective agreement was signed for the employees of the Identità agency which provides several improvements and benefits for all employees. With effect from January of this year, the workers who benefit from this agreement will receive a substantial increase in their conditions and salaries. In addition, for the first time, this agreement is introducing a performance bonus for all grades of workers. This increase is intended to incentivize excellence, while recognizing the responsibilities that workers bear in making decisions.

The collective agreement, valid for four years, was signed by the CEO of Identità, Steve Agius and the Secretary of the Government and Public Entities section of GWU Kendrick Bondin. The signing took place in the presence of the Minister for the Interior, Security and Work Byron Camilleri who said that the new agreement will create a better environment for the workers in order to continue improving the service to the public.

“More than 300 Identity workers will see their conditions and rights improve with greater opportunities for their personal career while protecting their mental health,” said Minister Byron Camilleri while reiterating that this is one of several collective agreements that have been concluded recently.

CEO of Identità Steve Agius said that the agreement is a testimony of the willingness of the agency to protect the welfare and strengthen the professional development of the employees. “The improvements outlined in the agreement reflect our commitment to foster a positive work environment and recognize the valuable contributions of our team members.”

The new collective agreement offers, among others, scholarships at Levels 5, 6 and 7 of the Maltese Qualifications Framework (MQF), and promotes continuous learning and professional development of the worker. As a demonstration of the agency’s commitment to supporting workers who continue their education, employees enrolled in courses at these levels can also benefit from study leave of five days a year, which allows them time to prepare for exams and assignments.

Present for the signing of the new collective agreement was the Permanent Secretary within the Ministry Joyce Dimech and the General Secretary of the General Workers’ Union Josef Bugeja.
