Aġenzija Sedqa has launched an information, awareness and prevention campaign, aimed mainly at teenagers and young people in order to keep them away from the use of illicit substances.
The ‘Natural Buzz’ Campaign is intended to convey a clear message about the importance of a person having fun without the need for substances that change behavior and emotions for a short time, but increase the individual’s problem with ‘ that time the substance stops working.
This campaign, which will be spread over the next two months, is being advertised by a number of local influencers who are taking part in short clips that will be uploaded on Sedqa Malta’s social media.
These details were announced during a news conference by the Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights, Michael Falzon, who said that through this campaign awareness about addictions is being increased so that as much as possible ‘ the number of people addicted to drugs will decrease.
“In this campaign we are focusing mostly on problematic realities that young people face in their lives and we will convey the messages primarily through videos on social media,” explained Minister Michael Falzon.
The ‘Natural Buzz’ campaign will focus on alternative leisure activities as a means of support for individuals to survive in difficult situations. Aġenzija Sedqa believes that it is important to exhibit healthier and more satisfying hobbies, in order to encourage individuals to explore alternative methods to the use of substances or other addictions.
CEO of FSWS, Alfred Grixti, spoke about alternative entertainment that promotes relaxation, enjoyment, and personal growth without the harmful effects associated with addictions. “By promoting alternative entertainment, Aġenzija Sedqa does its best to provide individuals with constructive ways to occupy their time and focus their energy in a healthy way,” concluded Mr. Grixti.
