The implementation of beautification projects continued in the localities of the Maltese islands financed with partners from the LESA agency and the local councils. This time it was the turn of Għajnsielem in Gozo where LESA financed €80,000 for a beautification project.
The project in Għajnsielem was inaugurated by the Minister for the Interior, Security and Work Byron Camilleri, by the Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri, and the Mayor of Għajnsielem Kevin Cauchi.
Minister Byron Camilleri recalled how in just three years the LESA agency financed around €3 million for various projects in the Maltese islands aimed at benefiting the various communities.
“In a few more weeks we will also announce those projects that have been brought forward by the various local councils and that will be financed by the funds of the LESA agency, where we will continue to invest in projects that improve the quality of life of -our communities,” concluded Minister Byron Camilleri.
For his part, Minister Clint Camilleri explained how this project changed the promenade into a new one, with several benches and reconstruction of the rubble walls. “This is the way that our Councils are beautifying the water bodies that are not in the center of the villages but are located in the most beautiful places that we have around the Gozitan island,” repeated Minister Camilleri.
The beautification works were spread over half a kilometer and included the widening of the pavement to include a new space dedicated to benches and other street furniture, trees, decorative lighting, mosaic designs, a small library and the addition of -ramps to give greater accessibility. The project also involved the building of traditional walls as well as better parking management. The ultimate goal was to create a new and open space to be enjoyed by the community while carrying out a project that achieves various social and environmental goals.
