The Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri has announced that “Lejl Imkebbes” will be staged again, the annual festival that creates a magical atmosphere in the Cittadella through thousands of candles and that this year it will be -Saturday 20 April from 6pm onwards.
In this edition it is expected that there will be around 500 square meters of unique artefacts around the Citadel, two new attractions will be added and more decorations with candles to add to the magic of the night. In addition, three light structures will be installed and will give an opportunity for magical photos.
“This event has not only become part of the cultural calendar of Gozo, but it attracts thousands of people, both Gozitans and Maltese, as well as tourists who visit the island precisely for this festival. In fact, last year around 9,000 people attended and this year we are expecting it to attract a large number of people again. Such activities have turned Gozo into a destination for the whole year and that is why the Ministry continues to give its support for these events to take place,” stated Minister Camilleri.
During “Lejl Imkebbes” there will also be many activities for everyone with historical and traditional re-enactments, free entry to museums, opening of other public places of interest, contemporary music, and activities for children. In addition, one can find food stands in the Cittadella ditch that offer both Maltese and other food and should make this event a night that will appeal to all tastes and ages.
Minister Clint Camilleri encouraged everyone to attend this magical and unique night in the Cittadella that will offer entertainment for the whole family.
Entry to this festival is free and will be organized in collaboration with the Directorate of Cultural Heritage within the Ministry for Gozo. Free transport to and from Imgarr Gozo will also be provided.
