Around 200 families in Mosta benefit from regeneration projects

Approximately 200 families living in the social housing area of Ta’ Mlit, Mosta, are benefiting from two significant regeneration initiatives aimed at improving their standard of living.

This was announced by Minister for Social and Affordable Accommodation Roderick Galdes during the inauguration of the refurbishment works on the exterior, roofs, and shared spaces of these social housing units, along with the unveiling of a new space designated for recreational use by residents.

“With an overall investment surpassing €2 million, these projects highlight Government’s dedication to our communities, demonstrating our commitment to significantly enhance the living conditions of residents,” stated the minister.

The new recreation area project was implemented using financial support from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). It entailed a comprehensive regeneration of the area, including the improvement of accessibility with the addition of ramps, the planting of trees, and the installation of a solar panel system that will generate electricity for the area.

These families are among the 2,000 inhabitants across 270 buildings that the Housing Authority has upgraded over the past three years, with a total investment of €10 million.

“This investment serves as another sign of the dedication of this Government to the housing sector, which we view as a critical socio-economic foundation for our country’s policymaking,” concluded Minister Galdes.

Also present for the inauguration were Permanent Secretary Emanuel Psaila.
