The process of implementing the law that regulates temping agencies, the agencies that bring foreign workers to work in our country, is going at a very good pace.
This was said by the Parliamentary Secretary for Social Dialogue Andy Ellul when he addressed an information meeting for the operators of these agencies, at Dar il-Mediterran in Valletta. This meeting was held as from the beginning of next month they will start issuing the first licenses to the operators of the employment agencies and this so that they can start operating under this new regulatory framework.
When he was addressing these operators, Parliamentary Secretary Andy Ellul stressed that the aim of this law, which was part of the electoral manifesto, will see that the labor sector in our country will be a serious and professional one. “This law will see that our country attracts quality workers under control and they will only work in sectors that need them”, claimed the Parliamentary Secretary.
Dr. Andy Ellul appealed to temping agencies that have not yet applied for licensing to apply with the Department of Industrial Relations and Employment. Here it was recalled how then from the beginning of June, the enforcement will begin. This is to give enough chance to those who have applied towards the end, so that they have the necessary documents.
Present for this information meeting was the Director General of the Department of Industrial Relations and Employment (DIER), Diane Vella Muscat.
