Malta participates at the World Government Summit 2024 held in the UAE

The Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation Keith Azzopardi Tanti was one of the speakers during a high-level debate on the future of digital governance at the World Government Summit held in Dubai, UAE.

During his speech, Parliamentary Secretary Azzopardi Tanti mentioned the various initiatives, schemes and strategies issued by the Maltese government in the transition towards a more digitalised society and economy and mentioned that this transition will also lead to more efficient public services.

During his visit in UAE, Parliamentary Secretary Azzopardi Tanti held meetings with UAE Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology Sarah Al Amiri, and UAE Minister for Youth Sultan Saif AlNeyadi. The meetings focused on establishing new collaborations in youth policy and related programmes and space technologies.

The visit also coincided with the graduation ceremony of the Maltese public service and public sector officials who successfully participated in the first edition of the Executive Leadership Programme, an international senior government executives training and development programme offered by the UAE Government, following the signing of an MOU between the Government of Malta and the UAE Government. A new edition of this programme is expected to be launched later this year by the Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST).

During this visit, the Parliamentary Secretary was accompanied by senior officials from MCST and Malta’s Ambassador to the UAE, Maria Camilleri Calleja.
