Because a Labor Government plans for the future it is making sure that it plans for any eventuality even if there is an increase in the demand for electricity due to stronger heat than what our country experienced in 2023.
A Labor Government has always been clear about the fact that it will increase the capacity only in case of a strong increase and then in case of emergency only for a few hours.
Therefore, the entire environmental process is being followed as required by the European Union in such cases. So much so that the process went up to the approval of the ERA board which agreed on this unanimously.
This is different to the impression that the Opposition spokeswoman tried to give, who conveniently did not mention anything about this. The Opposition’s only plan is to raise the bills with the market liberalization proposal, while the Labor Government has accelerated investment in distribution and will continue to invest in electricity supply. Who is a populist does not come up with solutions.
