New collective agreement offers better conditions workers of technical section of Malta Air Traffic Services

The Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works, Chris Bonett, presided over the signing of a collective agreement between Malta Air Traffic Services (MATS) and the General Workers’ Union.

This collective agreement of the technical section of the company will be covering 52 workers for the period of 5 years. The workers who will benefit from this agreement are mainly those of the Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel.

This agreement will be combining the two sections, that of the Air Traffic Safety Personnel and the Air Traffic Controllers as the conditions and advantages have been simplified equally with the air traffic controllers of the ATCOS. This sets the parameters for the remaining three collective agreements.

Minister Chris Bonett explained that this agreement continues to show how much the Government is investing in the best resource our country has, the human resource. “The commitment of this government has always been to fear for the workers and to give them the best conditions to operate in the best way possible while giving the best service to the Maltese people,” said Minister Bonett. .

The agreement was signed by the Chief Executive Claude Mallia and by the Chairman George Borg Marks for the MATS side, and by Alfred Grima and Sandro Vella for the General Worker’s Union side.

At the end of the occasion, Minister Chris Bonett thanked all those who were involved in the discussions that led to this agreement and said that he looks forward to working towards the three remaining collective agreements.
