The Minister for Gozo and Planning, Clint Camilleri, visited the reconstruction work being done on Triq ta Wara s-Sur, Victoria, with a value of €1.5 million.
New services are being installed in this road which include, among others, new water mains on each side of the road, a new drainage system, new water ducts that deliver irrigation water to the farmers, rainwater collection ducts and those of telecommunications. New pavements are also being made, the rubble walls are being strengthened and finally the tarmac will be given again.
Minister Clint Camilleri said that the work on Triq ta Wara s-Sur is progressing well where in the residential part, ie in the first part, the work of the services under the road are complete.
“Here we passed two new water mains on each side of the road, a drainage main, new connections for all the residences and a storm water culvert that will be heading towards the Marsalforn road so that as soon as the road starts of Marsalforn we will be able to connect this storm water culvert with the same road. As we are now approaching the time of the Carnival part of this road will be tarmaced and opened to the public then we will continue on the next part of the same Triq ta Wara s-Sur,” explained Minister Camilleri.
He said that in this part a new junction will be created in order to cut once and for all the bottleneck in Victoria. He continued that this junction will be one of the new junctions and alternative roads that will be made in Victoria, meaning that after this road the work will be done on Triq George Pisani, a new road that will also offer an alternative road for those who are going to Marsalforn.
“The aim of this project is to cut as much traffic as possible from the center of Victoria,” concluded Minister Clint Camilleri.
