Government nominates Judge Ramona Frendo for European Court of Justice

After a public call issued back on October 13, 2023, and a selection process, the selection committee recommended Judge Ramona Frendo to occupy the position of judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union in the name of Malta.

The Minister for Justice and Reform of the Construction Sector Jonathan Attard congratulated Judge Frendo and claimed that the experience he has accumulated over the last few years serving as a judge in the General Court of the European Union, surely they will augur well for her choice. “Judge Frendo has the skills, qualifications and experience necessary to serve in this very important role. Her choice as the judge nominated on behalf of Malta will certainly continue to raise the name of our country on a European level”, stressed Minister Attard.

Now it is expected to start the process of approving the nomination by concerned entities and if she is approved in this new position, Judge Frendo will start performing her functions next October. The Minister for Justice and Reform of the Construction Sector Jonathan Attard also thanked the present Judge Peter J. Xuereb for the work he has done in the last six years he has held this position.
