Government land in the heart of Birżebbuġa goes to the Local Council to build a community service center

The Minister for Lands and for the Implementation of the Electoral Program Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi presided over the signing of a devolution agreement between the Lands Authority and the Local Council of Birżebbuġa. Through this agreement the Land Authority will be handing over land in the heart of Birżebbuġa next to the school to build a Civic Center for the neighborhood.

Minister Zrinzo Azzopardi said that with this project the whole community of Birżebbuġa will be benefiting from it. “Thanks to this transfer, the Birżebbuġa Council will now begin to carry out this project of building a Civic Center in the locality”, stated the Minister. Noting that the location of Birżebbuġa is growing as a community as time goes by, he expressed satisfaction that this project will be carried out which is much awaited by the residents.

The Mayor of Birżebbuġa, Scott Camilleri said that through this transfer of land the Local Council of Birżebbuġa will be able to develop a civic center which will include a public library as well as a larger health center and that work regularly. While thanking the Ministry, he stressed that through this center the Council of Birżebbuġa will be increasing its services to the residents of the locality.

Present for the signing of this agreement were the Chief Executive of the Lands Authority, Robert Vella, the Permanent Secretary Carlos Tabone and the Executive Secretary of the Birżebbuġa Local Council, Jordy Brincat.
