The new police station in Wied il-Għajn offers a better service for the community

In Wied il-Għajn, the new police station started operating, which was specially built according to the needs of the police officers and the community. The work in the main police stations complements the work in the community police offices so that today the Police Force has the biggest presence in the heart of the localities in many years.

In a visit to the police station, the Minister for the Interior, Security, Reforms, Byron Camilleri and the Police Commissioner Angelo Gafà noted that with an investment exceeding €700,000, security continues to be strengthened in the heart of the community. Therefore, the project is part of a series of renovation works in police stations around Malta and Gozo. Also, this is a project that complements the ongoing work of the Community Police who now also have an office in this police station.

Minister Byron Camilleri said that this investment is a link in the chain of projects for strengthening security in the Maltese and Gozitan localities. He explained that the Police Force continues to operate more hand in hand with the community, while the government will continue to invest both in the workers of the disciplined bodies, in the tools they use, and also in -keeping order.

“In this way as a government we are continuing to strengthen this very important service for our communities, not only in Wied il-Għajn, but also in various localities around Malta and Gozo where we are launching these types of ‘ direct investments in the safety of the community,” concluded Minister Camilleri.

Police Commissioner Angelo Gafà said that, “This new police station is part of a holistic plan where we are recognizing that the quality of the environment where we work is essential both in order to continue to increase the motivation of -our employees, but also to provide the best possible service to the citizens who need our service.”

He concluded by saying that the body is committed to continuing to improve the buildings from which it operates with major renovations with the aim of continuing to fulfill the body’s mission, to provide a professional and trusted service to ensure that we have a safe country in partnership with the community.

Also present for the official inauguration was the Mayor of Marsaskala, Mario Calleja, who while welcoming the police station building itself, praised the work being done by the police in the locality of Marsaskala , including the district and community police, particularly in the summer months when the population of this locality increases drastically.
