2023 is expected to be the best year for Malta’s tourism in history

This year will be a historic one for tourism in our country as by the end of this year the Maltese Islands will have experienced the arrival of just under 3 million tourists.

These figures surpass the last record year back in 2019. Apart from the record in terms of arrivals, tourism expenditure in Malta rose to €2.8 billion in the Maltese economy.

These details were announced by the Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo during a visit he made, together with the CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority Carlo Micallef and the Chairman of the said authority Gavin Gulia, at the hotel The Marriot Hotel and Spa in St. Julian’s.

The Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo pointed out that this is a result of celebrating it together as one and united country because directly and indirectly tourism affects everyone.

“These positive results put a greater responsibility on us to continue making the changes and reforms that are needed. The priorities for next year will be mainly based on attracting tourists of a higher quality than we have ever achieved until now, we will introduce the skills reform step by step to see a better service than what we have until now in the restaurants and our hotels as well as more work when it comes to public cleanliness and maintenance,” stressed the Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo.
