LESA funds were converted into a regeneration project of the Lorry Sant Garden in Rahal Gdid, a project carried out by the Local Council.
A project that was inaugurated by the Minister for the Interior, Security, Reforms and Equality Byron Camilleri and the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli, in the presence of the Mayor Dominic Grima.
Minister Camilleri said that the Local Council of Paola was among the first councils that knew how to use the LESA scheme where it finances various projects in various localities.
“Thanks to this project, the residents of Pahal have a regenerated open space in the heart of the locality that offers a place of tranquility. This is also because as part of this project several mature trees were planted that offer shelter. In total, during the last three years, the LESA agency will have invested €3 million in projects in the localities, and as we announced a few days ago, this agency has again allocated another €3.3 million for the three years to come. Our commitment, through these funds, remains to give our communities, more beautiful and safer localities.”
Parliamentary Secretary Zerafa Civelli praised the commitment of the local council of Paola that made use of these additional funds in order to address a need in its locality. “This garden will offer an open and recreational space for the surrounding residents, where they can spend quality time.”
The Parliamentary Secretary appealed to the local councils to bring forward projects and initiatives, which through this scheme can be implemented to improve the localities and the quality of life of the residents.
The Mayor of Paola, Dominic Grima, thanked LESA for its support in this project. He said that such initiatives would support the Local Councils
“Thanks to this project, the residents of Pahal have another open space where they can recreate themselves. This is a chain from a number of other projects for the residents of Paola, concluded Mayor Grima.
