A concert featuring the music of Maltese composer Girolamo Abos held in Kyiv, Ukraine

Minister for National Heritage, the Arts, and Local Government Owen Bonnici and Ukraine’s Acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy Rostyslav Karandieiev attended a concert by a Ukrainian choir and musicians in Kyiv, Ukraine.

The concert, under the musical direction of Mro Nancy Milesis Romano, presented a captivating repertoire composed of some of the finest works by Maltese composer Girolamo Abos.

The musical evening served as a demonstration of solidarity towards the Ukrainian people and showcased Malta’s musical heritage, while fostering connections with Ukraine.

Minister Bonnici’s presence in Kyiv emphasised the significance of using art and culture as powerful tools for dialogue and cooperation. This concert is also testament to Malta’s resolve to forging significant connections through culture and the arts.

Throughout the evening, apart from the performance of Abos’s compositions, works from the repertoire of Antonio Vivaldi were also performed.

This event follows a previous successful initiative at St. John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta by the same musicians under the direction of Mro Milesis Romano.
