Police received a report at 4am on Saturday morning that people were cutting underground cables near Argotti Gardens in Floriana.
As officers carried out a search of the area they spotted a man carrying cables and arrested him. Believing others to be involved they continued with their search which led to two other men being arrested.
The suspects, a 39-year-old from Marsascala, a 30-year-old from Zejtun and a 35-year-old man from Nigeria, were taken to Valletta Police Station for questioning.
