During a news conference at Gnien il Familja in Đad Dingli, it was announced that 5 Local Councils will be given funds through the Financing Scheme for the Maintenance and Support of Major Infrastructural Projects carried out by the Government. This scheme was issued for the fourth consecutive year by the Local Government Division, with the aim that major projects carried out by the Government in the localities continue to be kept in good condition by the respective Local Councils.
The Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli said that through these additional funds the Local Councils will be able to carry out the necessary maintenance on major projects in their respective localities and therefore keep the locality in good condition which also reflects in a better quality of life for the residents.
The Local Councils that are benefiting from these funds are: the Mosta Local Council for a project that will increase more security in the Mosta square; the San Gwann Local Council for new ‘fencing’ in a recreational space; the Birgu Local Council for maintenance of the Birgu ditch; the Gudja Local Council for new lighthouses that work with sustainable energy; and the Local Council of Dingli for maintenance of the fountain and the swings in Gnien il Familja.
The Mayor of Dingli Raymond Schembri said that through these additional funds the community of Đad Dingli will be benefiting from a quality recreational space for the whole family.
Director for Strategy and Policy Implementation Marisa Pisani pointed out that the aim of this funding is to support and ensure that infrastructure projects in the localities continue to be kept in good condition. Present for this news conference were the Mayors and the Executive Secretaries of the Local Council who are benefiting from these funds.
