A number of secondary and post-secondary schools were awarded for various projects carried out throughout the past scholastic year through the Student Councils Democracy Awards programme. This is one of the programmes that Aġenzija Żgħażagħ offers with the aim of promoting more abilities and responsibilities from a young age.
During the presentation of awards, the Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation Keith Azzopardi Tanti said that the role of Aġenzija Żgħażagħ is to see that youths in our country are raised with strong values so they can become active citizens within their communities.
He continued that this programme is training students on various themes including democratic processes, active citizenship and dialogue, where participants can acquire new skills. “I encourage that we have more initiatives of this type as the one being led by Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, with the hope that more schools participate in these types of programmes,” concluded Parliamentary Secretary Azzopardi Tanti.
The CEO of Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, Miriam Teuma, also addressed the students and stated that each year more schools are interested in entering this programme, where thanks to it they are continuing to foster the democratic sense in more students.
