New clinic opened in Dingli

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne inaugurated a new clinic in the community in the locality of Dingli. This clinic, in the heart of the community, will offer six services to more than three thousand residents of Had-Dingli and as well as residents of surrounding localities.

These services are the family doctor’s clinic, the nurse’s clinic, a speech language pathology service, a podiatry service, physiotherapy and also a social worker service. Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne recalled how this is the twenty-second clinic being inaugurated by Primary Health Care in the last five years, while he reiterated the commitment of the Ministry of Health to continue projects similar in more towns and villages around Malta and Gozo. “In the coming weeks we will have the opportunity to inaugurate more clinics in the community in order to increase access to more health services for the residents, next to their homes. In this way we can apply a preventive health policy that allows those who take care of their health, with the least possible inconvenience.”

The project which included the renovation of the building and the purchase of medical equipment was financed by the National Social and Development Fund (NDSF). In the same news conference the Deputy Prime Minister recalled how from Monday 9 October the flu vaccination schedule and the COVID-19 booster will start from all Health Centers and from the scheduled community clinics. He explained how the first week of vaccination will be dedicated to people over 55 years old, people with chronic conditions, pregnant women, people living in institutions and workers in the health sector.

From Monday 16 October, the flu and booster vaccines of COVID-19 will be available for all adults, while from Saturday 28 October the vaccination for children will be launched. He recalled how this year the Local Councils also joined in this vaccination campaign and therefore increased the opportunity for each person to receive these vaccines, free of charge.
